I'll begin by saying I am not a big fan of pumpkin beers. So consider review accordingly.
Dan ( the Brewer) suggested I try it, and "wow" am glad I did. Poured with a nice creamy head, and deep brown/red color that had good clarity. What I liked right away was that the aroma was not heavy with the standard cinnamon, cloves, nutmeg like spices. It had a rich malty brown ale aroma that scented of yams and unsweetened pumpkin. This was further accented by soft hints of vanilla and bourbon. Really intriguing. The flavor was a stunner. It was a richly complex ale , heavily malted (English??) and featuring the sweet/slightly tart gourd flavors of the pumpkin. Again, no extraneous spices to mask the natural flavors. Instead the ale blends in the bourbon and vanilla to make layer on layer of flavor. As a nod to seasonal spices...Dan will rim your glass with a little cinnamon and sugar....that actually works very nicely. The mouth feel as expected for a big imperial was full and very smooth. Here the pumpkin and malt marry to build a great base for very drinkable big beer. I thought this was a very thoughtful creative beer, and said a lot about the brewer. Definitely an "A"...and suggests everyone should stop and see what Dan comes up with next.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
