The appearance was a fairly dark brown color with a finger’s worth of white foamy head that held and dissipated at a nice slow pace. Light stringy lace. The aroma had some really nice blend of sweet to roast through the nuts, caramel/toffee malt base, earthy hops, light milk chocolate, some dark chocolate, subtle leather, and dark bread. The flavor amplified the sweetness and the roastiness by adding in a little bit of dried leaves, sweet cereal grains, a little bit of hay and a touch of some floral hop qualities. Aftertaste copied the initial taste pretty much spot on. Finish was malty smooth. The palate was almost medium bodied, sitting just a tad under creating a spectacular sessionably smooth feel rolling all over my tongue. Carbonation felt a bit low, but that didn’t bother me - just added to the smoothness. ABV seemed to be a touch above what is projected. Overall, despite the lower carbonation and what seemed to me a higher ABV than what was projected, this brown ale was absolutely fabulous!
