Look- Deep dark amber that you can only see through when held up to a light. A finger of mocha head that disappeared rather quickly. 4.25

Smell- A rush of sweet caramelized sugars, strong coffee and maybe a hint of orange zest(?) when poured into my tulip glass. Some chocolate and light winter spices as I bring my nose to the glass. 4.50

Taste- Big vanilla and coffee notes some chocolate, molasses, biscuit, fruity esters. 4.5

Feel- Bright with a nice full carbonation. Just the slight bit stickiness 4.75

Overall- This is a unique style. Not a ton of examples in my area and my history with them is limited. This was very enjoyable. Great belgium notes with that toasty molasses sweetness. The coffee was the star ofthe show. It is definitely the cheat code that makes this one the highest rated belgium dark ale. 4.50

The pour is coffee brown and looks darned near stout black in the glass. Backlit it has a deep ruby color. The head was aggressive, forcing me to drink the first few sips from the can. Good lacing.
The taste is borderline sweet; toffee and dark chocolate and vanilla all on toasted white bread. There seems to be some cinnamon at the back of the tongue, but it might be the Mexican vanilla beans.
The feel is lightly viscous, which fits the flavor profile well. There’s a light coating on my lips after I finish, that’s a little different but in no way off putting.
OA, glad I found the 4 pack and decided to try it. Very nice treat.

Appearance: Pours a clear coffee color with a cascading bubble show that produces a two finger head; good retention and streaky lacing

Smell: Toasted bread, milk chocolate, coffee, brown sugar and roasted nuts

Taste: Toasted bread, milk chocolate and brown sugar forward with roasted nuts and coffee flavors developing; the flavors are balanced, after the swallow, with the sweeter side bringing up the rear

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: Not sure what makes this "Belgian" as it doesn't have any Belgian yeast flavors or the characteristic mouthfee; it tastes like an American Brown Ale with adjuncts and a good one at that

Pours a clear, dark brown, appears a deep mahogany red in the glass; thick, slow-rising carbonation; dense, sudsy head, khaki hued. Wonderful roasted grains and nuts smell; delicate touch of burnt brown sugar. Well-blended and balanced taste; light cocoa and brown sugar with a dash of cinnamon; sly undercurrent of coffee. Medium-heavy mouthfeel; smooth and delicately velvety; medium-dry quality balancing the feathery residual sugar notes.

A very nice brown ale infused with coffee and cinnamon notes. Everything comes across balanced yet delivering an alluring complexity to satisfy the palate and soul.

Pouring temperture: 50 °F; canning info: n/a

Canned 10/31/23

Taxman started off strong for me, but the next 2 beers I had from them after that were painfully average. I’m hoping this one works out better. It certainly sounds interesting, a Belgian Dark Ale with coffee. Let’s get into it

Pours an opaque medium brown with 2 fingers of creamy light tan head that slowly fades to a thin cap and leaves decent lacing

The nose is pretty interesting, the coffee is very forward but it works well with the yeast notes. I’m picking up on aromas of medium roast coffee, red grape, rye bread, milk chocolate, brown sugar, toffee, nutty malt, and black cherry

It’s a little less expressive in taste, but still damn good. On the front end of the sip I’m tasting toffee, sweet honey, light roast coffee, brown sugar, raisin, milk chocolate, and light black pepper. The swallow brings notes of sweet caramel, black pepper, toffee, bready malt, cocoa powder, raisin, brown sugar, and medium roast coffee

A medium body pairs with gentle carbonation, resulting in a soft beer. Finishes mostly dry and nicely balanced

Alright, Taxman redeemed themselves with this one. Quite the unique beer

12 ounce can, canned on 10/25/22, can says 8% ABV. Served in a chalice, the beer pours dark brown with about an inch tan head. Head retention and lacing are both good. I like the aroma, the brew smells like coffee, dark chocolate, vanilla and some caramel. I think the taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also some sweet spiciness (doesn't remind me of any one particular spice) and brown sugar flavors noticeable too. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's a bit creamy and coating with a good amount of carbonation. I liked this one, recommend it more to people who like coffee beers. Seemed a little more coffee brown ale than Belgian to me, but I'm not complaining at all, certainly worth a try!

Dark brown body with lighter edges, huge beige head, tons of lacing stick around. Aromas of coffee, cinnamon, spices, and in the background cocoa, vanilla, and caramel. Taste has the caramel with big brown sugar, meeting the spices, cocoa and malt right away, then coffee is next on the journey, finally it all comes together with vanilla, whispers of dark fruit, airy yeast, and booze. Feel is textured by the coffee and spices atop a malty body, yeast softness translates more as it warms. Very well made, great for the holidays
