30 May 2020 - Beer #106

Corona Day #79

Acquired from Tavour in a subscription box

Appearance: 3 - a nice black, but a very white head. Floaties everywhere. Eww.

Nose: 4 - quite roasty and boozy. Not much barrel or coconut. I was expecting sweeter.

Taste: 4 - hmm, very interesting. Plenty sweet, mostly from the barrel. I get very little coconut.

Mouth: 5 - this might be the smoothest beer I've ever had. I mean this just slides right down. It leaves tingly remnants on the sides of my mouth and tongue.

Overall: 4 - a very odd BA stout. Just weird.

Stay safe out there, my friends.

Cheers!

Tasted in a Rastal Teku from a 12 fl oz can on November 14, 2018. A small batch variant of 2018 Evasion conditioned in rum barrels with toasted coconut.

A draft-only variant of Evasion at the Taxman gastropub. Very aromatic with loads of coconut on the nose; it toes the line, but never crosses over into artificial, coconut-flavored rum territory. A big coconut bomb, but it still retains a good base of roasted malts, Belgian yeast, and barrel character from the base stout. Definitely my favorite of the three I tried (regular, coconut, and cocoa-vanilla).
