Trust the Gold Standard, our abbey-style blonde ale. With a golden body befitting of its name, this ale pairs dynamic, fruity and spicy Belgian esters with malty flavors of honey and biscuit. Tangy blood orange and a unique, blush hue make this special summer release worth its weight.

Look: Vibrant and clear straw colored golden yellow with moderate white head that dissipates leaving a thin ring around the glass and almost no lacing.

Smell: Pungent malty bread aroma.

Taste: Predominantly malt flavors of bread and yeast. Yeast esters are present, but do not contribute enough fruit flavor. The blood orange flavor is present, but subdued. Whether that is good or bad is debatable, but personally I would prefer more aggressive fruit and sweetness to compliment the malt.

Feel: Nice medium body feel.

Overall: The base Abbey Blond ale is good but not exceptional. The Blood orange addition is nice. Overall a good beer.

12oz canned 6/9/20 (10 days ago) poured into a perfect pint glass at fridge temp 6.2% ABV 20 IBU. The beer pours mostly bright orange tinted light amber color with off white head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island of tiny bubbles. Minimal lacing. The aroma is blood orange, Belgian yeast and pale malt. The taste is barely tart blood orange over yeasty esters and honey & pale malt. Moderate bitterness. The mouthfeel is thin to medium bodied with just above average carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, good. I think the subdued blood orange touch enhances the base beer. Tasty and refreshing.
