12oz can from Tavour. Dark brown pour, ruby tinges, flat. Sweet aroma, cherries, brown sugar. Taste is sweet, some Belgian funk, cherries, woody. Mouth coating, mildly dry.

I think this is an under the radar, underrated brewery. The amburana notes of woody cinnamon are subdued but noticeable and play well with the cherries. I also get some sweet dark fruit and a hint of bakers chocolate. Damn tasty overall.

12oz canned 11/24/21 (2 months ago) poured into tulip glass at 52° Fahrenheit 10.5% ABV 30 IBU per can. The beer pours very dark amber, almost brown with chestnut highlights and light brown head. The head recedes to a thin ring and single layer of tiny bubbles. Leaves a nice web of lace as the level drops. The aroma is mild and malty with notes of cherry, honey, cinnamon and gingerbread. The taste is semisweet malt with more gingerbread & honey. The cherry, raisin, prune and cinnamon flavors are less powerful, but still present. Mild bitterness on the finish with drying spice. The mouthfeel is medium plus bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, very good. The amburana and house Belgian yeast really amplify the spice here, as the base beer is sweeter. Really smoothes out and comes together as it approaches room temperature.

Poured from 12oz can into my BeerAdvocate teku.

Appearance: rich, dark amber hue with a bit of haze and a thick cap of frothy tan foam. I think it's gorgeous!

Smell: sweet and bready first and foremost, with plenty of caramel and toffee. The cherry doesn't read as very strong to me, but I'm getting a big nutmeg character. Could be the buckwheat honey? No idea! I don't have any experience with amburana, I don't think. I like it, but it is rather on the sweet side.

Taste: dark and sweet with brown sugar, cherry, tobacco, and some phenolic character. It's an interesting take on a Belgian strong dark (they call this "Belgian-inspired"). I ... like it, I think.

Mouthfeel: medium body with a decent carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: a very interesting beer. The cherries are slowly building on my palate (this is a good thing). It's very odd and I haven't decided whether or not I really like it, which I suppose gives it points for being interesting.
