Deadline - Salted Chocolate Peanut

12 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 3/31/22, had 10/29/22.

Pours a mostly opaque cola color, with a brief head and speckled, light foamy cling. Aromas of chocolate, peanut, malt, some caramel, light bourbon and vanilla, light oak. The flavors start with a blast of chocolate, then bourbon, malt, some peanut and vanilla. Smooth, a lighter full body, well carbonated.

Delicious chocolate, the peanuts show pretty well and there’s a good base. Very enjoyable.

 

Taxman beers always bring out an immediate connection with me. They are often barrel aged and always finance themed. Here is the Deadline variant, salted chocolate peanut. The funky ale has defined cocoa profile with the taste and smell of peanut shells coming though. These prominent flavors are supported by woody undertones to create a not too decadent stout.

Brownish black body with a full tan head. Big roasty stout with a peanut edge in the nose. Taste has dark chocolate added to the roast and nut, but some metal emerges on the finish as it warms, womp womp. Feel doesn't have that, instead it is a medium-heavy body with roast and nuttiness and even a pinch of earthy salt.

Limited release imperial Belgian-style stout aged in bourbon barrels. This variant adds sea salt, chocolate and peanut.
