To create this boozy brew, Taxman added hundreds of pounds of Candi sugar to their Exemption Belgian Tripel, turning up the volume of its Ale base until it reached a staggering 16% ABV!
But the real trick is this brew’s incredible drinkability! The sweet, malty Tripel goodness remains balanced thanks to a dry side addition of Saaz and Amarillo Hops. Belgian esters of citrus peel and coriander cut through every spicy sip while your body warms to the high gravity!

12 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 6/21/22, had 8/24/23.
Pours a cloudy pale orange, with a quarter inch foamy head and light foamy lacing. Aromas of malt, Candi sugar, orange peel, coriander. Flavors of malt, orange peel, Candi sugar, coriander, light other spices. Has a light sweet note. Smooth, a good lighter medium body, well carbonated.
Certainly hides that ABV well. No idea why the label has that nonsense about Dubbel, Tripel, Quad, because that’s not what’s in the can. It’s a pretty decent BPSA, but if you took away the orange peel and coriander, there wouldn’t be much to it.

Deep golden color; mildly cloudy; some yeast sediment; dense, slow-rising carbonation; big, thick and creamy white head. Huge candi sugar sweetness greets the nose; slightly spicy; orange and coriander. Prominent malt flavor; heavy, earthy sweetness; light fruity esters cut through the malt sweetness; nice alcohol undercurrent. Heavy body; dense residual sugars; chewy; low-key boozy warmth courses below the surface.
This is a massive beer, very malt-forward with a bold yet not-in-your-face alcohol presence lurking in the background. Spicy Belgian trippel flavors are rather muted but do add some character to the beer.

12oz canned 6/21/22 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 16% ABV per Untappd. Just over 4 months old at time of review purchased warm at Big Red Liquors as it was brewed in collaboration with them to celebrate 50 years of business. The beer pours medium amber with lots of chunky floaties. Head is light khaki and settles to a thin ring. Slight lacing. The aroma is mild fruit, mild malt and more ethanol than anything else. The taste is bittersweet fruit and pale malt with hints of esters, coriander and orange peel. Fairly bitter, but it would have to be to balance the sweetness. Mouthfeel is full bodied, a bit syrupy with medium carbonation and a fairly undry finish. Alcohol is not hidden, but it's hardly as assertive as you would expect. Overall, it's the best Belgian-style triple IPA that I've ever had. It's also the only one I've ever had...
