In tribute to Saint Patrick we brewed Patricius Irish Stout, named for how ol' Paddy would have introduced himself to others at the pub way back when. Think nuts, oats and coffee all rolled up into a creamy, dry stout. This is one for seconds and at 5% ABV is very well balanced, session-able and refreshing.

Dark, dark brown with a thick even tan head. Roasted malts and some chocolate on the nose. Medium malt body, some alcohol notes here. No oats on the can ingredient list, it could probably use some to smooth things out. Mouthfeel is on the thinner side.

The barkeeper just changed the keg at East of Grafton in downtown Halifax. After being presented a generous array of samples I went with the stout. Lucky me. I got 2/3 of a pint for free. Change that keg! Lol.
It might be hotter than hell outside but the Grafton is nicely air conditioned. The stout is inky black with a stubborn beige head. My nose is picking up something slightly sour but it isn't offputting. Smooth and creamy on the palette. The taste is...good. Very good, indeed. Mild. Not in your face. And the carbonation is just about right.
Recommended. Good service here, too.
