Clear light amber color with a long-lasting foam in the De Proef tulip. Really nice creamy mouthfeel with the light sudsiness; it's a fun contrast with the serious boozy flavors.
This tastes really alcoholic, but in a pleasant way that makes you think you're drinking some kind of beery cocktail. The aromatics are quite lively, with a rich vanilla scent and long, slow Bourbon bouquet that fills the cranium with fumes and good time. On the sharp side, but the malty substance mellows the aftertaste. A yeasty bitterness and the tang of burnt sugar round out the romance.
Overall, this is an elegant but robust barrel-aged beer that seems well made in every respect. It's like no Saison you've ever tasted. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at the brewery tasting room in northwest Denver.
