On tap at the brewery. Maybe it was because I just had beer at Hogshead or maybe it was just because I'm harsh on beer but this was pretty ho-hum. Decent black stout but the flavor and aroma were a little lacking. I expect a pretty robust flavor from a stout and this didn't have it. I'll have to go back and give the another try because their spot was pretty cool and I tasted a most interesting IPA there.

a solid stout, maybe less interesting than some of the other beers these guys do, but i thought it was really well made. obsidian shine to the black beer, and a stout little head on it too. lighter n body though, despite all the roasty aromas and flavors. coffee and tobacco are there, and a sweetness from the oats, but those could be ramped up a little in my opinion. the beer isnt thin, but its not flush and fluffy either, which is maybe fine in other seasons, but i need more meat for the fall evenings. i do like how smooth it still is though, which is nice, and the flavor finishes super dry, despite being nearly burned on the barley spectrum and quite bitter. espresso and char finish it off, with a delicate but visible hop presence. well made, and quite true to style, this one should do well for them.
