This is not your father’s, brother’s, nephew’s, cousin’s, former roommate’s beer; this is an excellent Black IPA! Party On is brewed with Vienna, Munich, and Flaked Oats, copious amounts of Amarillo and Cascade hops, and capped with debittered dark grains for color and a hint of roast. It will be yours! Oh yes.

Had on tap at the brewery, also available in cans togo.
On the pour a fine khaki one finger head forms then slowly dissipates to a ring around d the glass and a light covering over top the beer. Body has light carbonation and is a very very dark almost black red. Some ligjt does get through, even sitting in evening light in a picnic table outside. Some lacing forms.
Aroma is a big hit of traditional cascade IPA with very clean fermentation and a nice malty sweetness on the back that imparts light caramel chocolate notes. The aroma is however mostly hops as it is IPA.
Taste has a more stout-y vibe than the aroma with a nice and present roasty sweetness in the mTogo. The cascade WCIPA is present right on the front but that slowly melds woth the dark malts to make for a nice balanced huge beer. Not overly bitter either, but the hops are mostly grapefruit rhind, some pine, and a light touch of darkness. Once the finish comes in, it leaves you feeling like you mightve just drank a hoppy American stout.
Feel is big and a bit sticky, but quite smooth to put down. Very desert like despite the bitterness and quite soft on the palate. Light to mid carbonation bite before the head really comes back and makes things creamy.
Overall for being my first black IPA, I can see why people like them so much. It's still a hop showcase, but it's nice and malty as well, in a definitive way and it balances very nicely.
