Presented a amber brownish red color, this brew had minimal carbonation and not much of a head to speak of. Initial odor is slightly abrasive, but evolves into a complex array of vanilla, carmel, malt and alcohol. Smooth taste, what one would expect in a typical red ale. Kind of rough going down, but not so much that I wouldn't have a second one. Worth a try for those who like red ales. But I am afraid there are far better examples out there.

Brilliantly clear, deep caramel with a thin ring of off-white bubbles. Poor retention and no lacing. Moderate carbonation. Aroma begins pungently with a touch of vinegar, followed by caramel, butter, thin corn, plain same old unpleasant house character as the others. Mouthfeel is smooth with a round finish which quickly becomes ruddy. Moderate body. Taste is of ruddy corn, herbal hops, a touch of grain husk and vanilla. Ruddy finish. Gives me headache...ugh.
