Piccolo Birrificio Clandestino “Oimmena”
33 cl brown glass bottle, “da consumarsi preferibilimente entro: 30/06/20 Lotto n. 121/19”
Look: Clear deep golden body beneath a finger-thick head of off-white foam. Very good head retention and even better lacing.
Smell: Fresh and bright hops with notes of pink grapefruit, citrus pith, apricot, and apples over a basic, grainy maltiness.
Taste: As the aroma suggests it will be with some additional peach and mildly floral and herbal hops. A firm to very firm bitterness balances it nicely and leads to a dry finish.
Feel: Medium bodied and gently crisp.
Overall: Quite nicely done. I’ve been visiting Italy for a half of a decade now and I’ve seen the quality of the birrificio artiginale improve greatly but this is probably the best that I’ve encountered (or at least in the top 3 or 4). I highly recommend anything from Piccolo Birrificio Clandestino.
