Piccolo Birrificio Clandestino “Zighe”
33cl brown glass bottle, “da consumarsi preferibilimente entro: 31/05/20 Lotto no.: 106/19”
€4 from the brewery booth at the Il Desco: Cibo 4.0 food festival in Arezzo, IT on 30/11/2019
Notes via stream of consciousness: It’s poured a very hazy (it’s unfiltered) amber-orange body beneath a short head of off-white foam. The head retention isn’t that great, and it doesn’t appear that there will be much lacing, but it’s still better than average. The aroma is bright and fruity (mango, orange, pineapple) with some pine and a light bit of cattiness to it. The malt is gently caramelish and biscuity, and melds well with the tropical fruit notes and bit of pine. A firm bitterness balances it and it finishes mostly dry with a dollop of marmalade-like malt and honey gently fading until only soft pine and a bit of earthiness are left behind. It’s nicely balanced, and smooth with a medium to medium-full body and soft, fine-bubbled carbonation. Quite pleasant!
