Poured from the tap at the brewery.
Appearance: Pours a very dark auburn, almost black with a small white. Some lacing hangs on the glass.
Smell: Bready malt, piney hops, and floral notes on the nose.
Taste: Citric hops and bready malt are delicately balanced in this hybrid beer. No real alcohol present in the taste. Maybe I am too jaded!
Mouthfeel: Mostly smooth and silky over the palate. Just a little bitter in the finish. Nice!
Overall: This beer blends attributes of the red ale style and the American IPA style for a unique taste. It's kind of a hybrid in my opinion, but if I had to categorize it I would say IPA. Interesting but I would rather have the styles presented separately. Call me a traditionalist!
