Undated (WTF) can into pint glass. Cracking the can produced a huge gush of foam - not a good way to start. Pours a hazy gold with - yes - a huge coarse-bubbled off-white head. No lacing to speak of. Initial impression is sweet grapefruit, pineapple, and a bit of funkiness. (Might be the unknown age showing.) Mouthfeel is medium; carbonation has calmed down to a reasonable level. Finish is slightly bitter and leaves a peculiar aftertaste. Won't be trying this again.

Hazy amber appearance with a large white head and good lacing. Pine and citrus step forward in the aroma while retaining an earthy, bready quality. Taste, too, showcases the resinous hops balanced by a gritty, grainy solid malt presence. Same holds true for the aftertaste. Dry, bitter finish. Pleasantly surprised.

This DelMarVa (+ DC) adventure of mine has morphed into my latest CANQuest (tm) focus! I really had no idea that MaryCANd, especially, was putting out so much beer. 8=O It seems as though every time I feel like I a close, some more beers from that area Pop! up from out of hiding to surprise me. Further, I am back to work so I CANnot keep up the pace that I set during the Christmas/Winter Break. 8=( On top of all of that, even New Beer Sunday is off-limits due to prior CANmitments. 8=( Inna meantime, a shout-out to my local, in-person trader, @tone77 who recently dropped this off for me.
From the CAN: "MAJ General 'Little Mac' McClellan'; "Little Mac led his brave soldiers with such care & caution that he disappointed Abe Lincoln & was relieved of duty."; "Adored & respected by his men, he was probably the kind of boss you'd drink a beer with."; "Refreshing, classic American-style IPA that owes its citrus-y taste & heady aroma to a blend of 5 unique hops. A sure-fire cool down on the hottest of days."; "Proudly Brewed in Maryland".
I Crack!ed open the vent & was pleasantly surprised by a light spritz across my fingertips, revealing a brimful craft CAN! 8=O I CANtinued the action with a slow, gentle C-Line Glug that resulted in the formation of just under three fingers (!) of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with great retention, leaving a load of sticky lacing in its wake. Speaking of wake, its Golden-Amber color (SRM = > 5, < 7) with NE-quality clarity awoke the napping Gelt Gang of Midas, Croesus & Mammon, in town to watch televised games this weekend. Once they had their fill, it was my turn! Nose was very citrusy, very much of grapefruit. Mmm. Mouthfeel was medium. The taste remained very citrusy with grapefruit leading the charge, buoyed by an orange zestiness. Mmm. The finish had a light pepperiness that lingered well past the swallow, making for a very dry beer. This was my kind of beer! YMMV.

I picked this up in Frederick County today, not really knowing what to expect. I know about McClellan from studying the war and I hope this beer is better than his generaling skills. This has a nice orange color and a mellow, balanced bitterness that soaks in from the beginning and carries through to the finish. This is not an intense or agressive IPA but I find it tasty and very quaffable. Maybe a little grainy in the aftertaste, but you could do much worse.

Not bad for a rye mix... I tried it over at the rocky gap park, it was white labeled for them... after calling them up I found out it was the little mac... not bad. I think I like it more in the can. It has a light head, little lacing, gold clear look like a mainstream bud light... overall not bad...

Poured from a can into a pint glass. Pours golden yellow-orange with a small white head. Smells of citrus and earthy hops. Beer tastes of citrus with slight grassy notes. Beer is light bodies and very easy drinking, good carbonation. Overall, an above average beer.

Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a deep golden color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of oranges, malts. Taste is the same, big on oranges, light malts, and bitterness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall, while not huge on hops, it is an easy drinking and enjoyable beer.
