Complex malty aromas of dark chocolate, honey, ripe figs, coffee, with a hint of smokiness. Smooth and silky.

After reading over the other review, I'm wondering if we tried the same beer. The version I had at the brewpub today was simple, thin on the palate, and completely forgettable (which unfortunately, is how I would describe most beers that Plank Town makes). Both on the nose and the palate, there was considerable roasty malt, burnt toast and coffee. There was a hint of smoke as well I guess, and the finish was dry and lightly bitter.
There are a lot well made porters available in the NW, but unfortunately, this isn't one of them.

Draft at Orenco Taphouse. Outstanding....but this should be listed as a *smoked porter*. Black as a moonless night...not much head but that is a very minor complaint. . Smooth, roasty, very peaty without being overbearing or acrid at all. Feels full bodied but lower abv and good balance make multiple pints possible without palate fatigue. Strongly recommended and a potential flagship for a new-ish brewery.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
