Cervezas La Virgen “IPA”
33 cl brown glass bottle coded “CONSUMIR PREFEREMENTE ANTES DE: 07-05-24” and sampled on 21-11-23
€2,75 @ Carrefour Express, Madrid, ES
Notes via stream of consciousness: It’s poured a clear deep golden/ amber colored body beneath a short head of white foam. The nose is bright, floral, sweetish, fruity (orange, apple, grapefruit), and piney/resinous! It’s the brightest aroma of any beer I’ve picked up in a supermercado, but I should also note that it’s the most expensive. The taste follows and it’s like an amped up Sierra Nevada Pale Ale. The malt is sweetish, biscuity, and delicately caramelish. The hop flavors remain the same as they are in the aroma but they’re much clearer and they linger in the solidly bitter and dry finish. In the mouth it’s medium bodied on the fuller side and crisp with a standard carbonation. Don’t pass this one by!

I tried a bottle of this beer at Mirador Del Arco de Cuchilleros restaurant near the old town square in Madrid . It poured a clear golden with thin white head that did not leave much lace. The scent had mild fruit and floral hop notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with sweet light malt base and subtle bitter citrus hop presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall it is a good beer.

De color dorado, con un dedo de espuma de retención media. Aroma lupulado y algunas notas cítricas. En boca es mas suave, con predominancia de amargor.

From Club del Gourmet of El Corte Ingles. In Teku glass. Playing Khimera. Great surprise given my nasty previous exp with this brewery. Very smooth to the palate, with nice softly resinous hoppy notes. Very drinkable
