On tap at the brewery served in their footed taster glass. It was their Black Friday beer this year.
Look- Pitch black and oily with a tiny ring of foam that fades quickly. No visible carbonation is present.
Smell- Bakers chocolate, roasted malt, sweet fudge brownies, mild char and faint bourbon.
Taste- Dark chocolate, tobacco, roasted malt, mild char and bourbon. A kiss of floral hops in the finish.
Feel- Thin and very flat with a dry finish.
Overall- While not a bad beer, it falls short of being memorable mostly because of the boring and flat feel. It's very chocolate forward and the sneaky barrel appears more as it warms. The slightly hoppy finish reminds me a little of Moloko. Worth a try if you're in the neighborhood.
