L; Pitch black with a finger of tan head. It lingers. Left nice lacing all the way down the glass.

S: Chocolate, toasted, burnt notes.

T: Follows the nose. Hop presence minimal.

F: A bit thin, but that's how a porter should be. True to style.

O: An excellent old school porter. A perfect beer for a cool autumn afternoon.

Paradox is a new local brewery and I had been waiting for my local beer store to get this again. I missed it the last time they had it on tap, apparently it went fast, which Is a good sign.

Pours a very dark, almost opaque brown with a frothy tan head and good lacing. Roasted malt immediately hit me on the nose. I sometimes have difficulty with aromas but not this time.
Right off the bat I was hit with the taste of dark, bakers chocolate and a hint of coffee.
Full bodied with medium carbonation. Goes down very easy.
Mouthfeel is actually quite crisp for a porter. I definitely enjoy drinking this porter and would buy it again.

Visited this new brewery local to my parent's vacation home for the first time and had samples of all five beers on tap. This was the best by far, in my opinion, so we took home a growler.

This is a very solid and very traditional porter. Jet black in body, with an ample, frothy tan head, good retention and lacing. Aroma dominated by bittersweet, baker's chocolate, mildly roasted malt, vague herbal hops. The flavor follows the aroma fairly closely, with restrained sweetness and a dry finish. Hops are muted and again have a slightly herbaceous quality. Low overall bitterness. Some mild coffee and roasty notes. Well rounded and easy drinking without any single aspect coming on too strong.

Medium body and carbonation. Kind of an archetypal old school porter that may not make anyone flip their wigs but delivers the goods nicely nonetheless.
