On draught at Craft+Carry, NYC.
Almost black, with semi clear notes of dark brown and mahogany. Modest head rapidly dissipates and leaves sticky rings of lacing.
The nose is bready and toasty and emits a caramel sweetness. This is accompanied by aromas that hint at roasted malt and cocoa powder.
The taste showcases dark toasted malts, moderately sweet, yet well balanced by a firm bitterness. The bitterness is provided by lightly malts and earthy hops. Flavors also include notes of bittersweet dark chocolate, biscuit and a touch of caramel.
Medium bodied with a smooth mouthfeel. The finish is semi crisp and dry. The carbonation is moderate.
A well executed Schwarzbier, tasty and easy to drink. I would have again.
