dubbed an export helles, this is a little stronger and a little hoppier than their others, they do a ton of light german stuff in here, and for my money its the best of them, not only the most distinctive but also the best refined, and my brother and i both preferred this to just about all the other beer we drank in here, awesome spot by the way if you havent been! this is pretty clear, rich honey colored, deeper than most helles types, with an inch of white head from the tap and a lot of visible carbonation. lots of hops to the aroma and flavor, maybe more than noble, spicy and earthy sure, but also with a little pine needle botanical thing to it and some assertive bitterness that starts earlier than the finish, and this would honestly approach the india pale lager range for me in terms of hops, but its the german elements that keep it in the helles field. the yeast is classic german, and the european malts bring that element out even more, sort of a style fusion then, but it really works and i like the bitterness. lots of body for what it is, but its also real bubby and dry, so it doesnt drink heavy for how full it is and how much flavor there is for the style. this is bold and good, kind of the opposite of some of their others, which were more understated. great with their pizza in here too, definitely a food beer!
