On tap this poured nearly flat, but swirl with a twizzle stick kicked up a low head of white foam that left some lace clinging before it slumped. Paradox's website calls this a NE style DIPA. I don't see it or taste it.
Bright, clear, amber yellow with very little carbonation visible.
Aroma is malt and more sweet malt - mild and subdued in every way. Hints of pine cone and wet hay, this could be an old keg or just purposely not dry hopped or hop nose forward. Nice change of pace in the current IPA world if intended by the brewer or not.
Flavor is again subdued and malty in a good way. Honey character with ale fruity noted front to back. VERY low hop rate and little in the nose or mid-boil flavor aspect. Old school goodness if not complex or exceptional in any way.
Body is medium and super easy drinking. The finish if firmly bitter but balanced by the mellow malt sweetness.
I have not been a fan of Paradox brewed I've had up till now and this was a pleasant surprise.
