oak aged wild ale with strawberry and rhubarb, truly fantastic, less acidic than i remember some others from these guys being long ago, real mature and complex, a cool contrast to the fresh strawberry and rhubarb in this, awesome recipe and execution. gorgeous deep pink to rose red color, short headed but not light on carbonation, nice saturation, a stained glass almost backlit brightness to it, pretty. the nose and flavor are awesome, an extremely authentic tart almost gritty rhubarb complexion along with sweeter, jammy natural strawberries, about equal amounts of each but they hit at different moments, the tang is early in the nose but late in the flavor, the sweet is in the center of both, and i think they go super well together, no surprise there, supporting hints of cranberry, red currant, rose wine, and neat tang and funk from the ferment, nice and mature, some wood character, vinous and even red wine vinegar or raspberry salad dressing or something, neat really, and the authenticity of the rhubarb and its pungency both make this real special. a little lambic-like and medicinal, a little higher tone saison type ester, berries all through the finish and the swallow but good pucker too. really pleasant beer, boldly flavored but exceedingly well done overall. impressive stuff, would like to try others of the many variants of this, looks like a lot of experimentation on this base, way cool. as good a strawberry rhubarb beer as i can remember ever having...
