To toast our first five years, we took Today is the Day, our Belgian-Style Quadrupel, aged for a year in whiskey, rum, and port barrels, and added ripe black currants before bottling. The result is a gorgeous beer, garnet in color, with aromas of chocolate cherry cordials, and a luxuriously long finish of tart raspberries, vanilla, and port — most certainly a beer for celebrations.

2018 vintage; drank 2/21/24 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque dull purple/orange appearance.
An even pour yielded a small eggshell-colored head; strong tree-rung lacing remained.
Well-preserved old book, dark berry, leather & faint tart strawberry notes in the nose.
Medium mouthfeel.
Black currant & mild leather flavors up front; mild tart strawberry & faint well-preserved book notes on the finish. Mild booze heat emerged as this warmed.
This has oxidized, no doubt, but it's pleasant & not acidic (considering the currant addition). I can't compare this to when it was fresh, but it was drinkable & mildly enjoyable.
