A 12 oz. can, only my third in this charming-looking series.

The black pour yields one of the larger, more persistent heads on a big beer I’ve seen in some time. The nose is caramel and/or toffee, brown leather. No barrel.

Might Meets Right – Russell’s Reserve Six Year Rye is a subtle knife. The malts stay low, not advertising the ABV at all, & the rye spice is gentle. The finish is oak – more wood than anything else, with a soft, rather thin mouthfeel. One could drink this by the bucket. If one so desired.

Overall no complexity & what’s there is understated. Pretty good, but I’m missing the punch of rye I was hoping for!

Canned 10/26/23; drank 12/27/23 @ the Yarchives.

Brown/black appearance.

An even pour yielded a small, noisy tan head; strong lacing remained.

Toffee, creme brulee & leather notes in the nose.

Medium mouthfeel.

Tons of wood & creme brulee flavors up front; sweet bourbon & toffee notes on the finish.

Sweet, dry & boozy, somehow in equal amounts; this is less than the sum of it's parts, somehow. Not one I'll return to.
