22 oz bottle into a tulip glass
A - Moderate pur produces a 2 finger head that is dark khaki in color and lightly frothy in appearance. The head dissipates rather slowly. The beer itself is an opaque black in color with moderate carbonation visible clinging to the edges of the glass and rising fairly quickly towards the surface. 4/5
S - The aroma is typical of milk stouts, featuring notes of vanilla, lactate, espresso, and dark chocolate. Toffee and a dark toasted pumpernickel bread make up an undertone that allows the initial 4 aromas to play off of. The aroma is somewhat sweet overall but also slightly balanced by the roasted and toasted earthy aromas as well. 4/5
T - The flavor is fairly heavy on milk chocolate and lactate, which makes sense considering that this is a double milk stout. Notes of espresso and vanilla back up the dark chocolate and lactate along with a bit of brown sugar as well. Hops are really not noticeable at all. Not lingering bitterness and very little bitterness overall for that matter. Fairly sweet overall flavor, just like the aroma. 4/5
M - Moderate carbonation burn throughout the entire profile allows for a medium body instead of the typical heavy body for stouts. This beer coats the tongue and leaves the palate wet upon swallowing, rather than being dry. 3.75/5
O - This beer heavily leans toward the sweet side of things with just a hint of bitter and earthy to balance it out. Easily works as a dessert beer. Heavy on lactate and milk chocolate with the milk chocolate really dominating the flavor profile. 4/5

22 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. Aged for about a year, acquired from the local beer store. First bomber offering to me from SlapShot Brewing. "Double Milk Stout".
Poured into a Big Eddy snifter glass.
A - Pours with still healthy carbonation, about two fingers of light airy frothy tan head on top of a dark brown-black body. Appears opaque in the glass. Minor spotty lacing.
S - The yeast content is immediately noticeable, but this has been brought on by age. Notes of milk, cream, and a slight funk.
T - Flavors of milk chocolate, roast, & slight burnt / char. The yeast has emerged and imparted an earthy funk (not sour, but yeasty). Flavors of the yeast sort of clash with the milk chocolate, but it works.
M - Feel is smooth & creamy, with good crisp carb still hanging in there. Body is a light-leaning medium, somewhat thin for the style and abv, I'd say. Drinkable, nonetheless.
Overall, glad to have tried it, but it was an experiment with milk stouts early in SlapShot Brewing's career. Would maybe be interested in trying this one again a bit fresher.

Overflowing carbonation upon opening, a little concerning. No bad signs anywhere else though. Chocolate and cream up front, more roast in the finish. Slightly high carbonation, but under control. Glad I picked this up on our trip to Chicago.

This is quite possibly one of my favorite milk stouts. Very smooth and creamy, not overly sweet. Lots of roasted malt/chocolate/espresso tastes going on. I think would definitely compare it to 18th streets Hunter. Might even rank it higher.
