This was a Christmas present in 2024 that was drunk in January 2025.
This is a deep golden colour in the glass with a thick, fluffy, bright white head. A stack of tiny bubbles is rushing up the glass, and this looks just like a beer should.
The Belgian yeast is very evident in the nose, with big notes of clove lying over a subtle grapefruit peel and citrus base.
The taste is exactly as the nose suggested it would be. It's very Belgiany, almost dubbel-like with that peppery, spicy, clovey Belgian yeast note, and at the back end, there's a little hit of grapefruit bitterness. A long, tangy note hangs around after the swallow.
The beer's body is full and smooth, with a medium amount of carbonation that complements the Belgian spicy note just right.
Overall, this one grew on me the longer I spent time with it. Once the Belgian phenolic notes calmed down, it went from being a clone of a Belgium dubbel to being more in the IPA range, especially with that nice bitness at the end.
Cheers!

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
