Enjoyed while at brewery back to back with the Barely Wine Barley Wine (Buffalo Trace Barrel Aged). This being the inferior version in every way, was still a very good beer that just couldn't live up to it's sibling.
A- Lighter in color than the BT it was still dark but more of an amber with light showing thru
S- Still a very nice caramel, boozey with a bit of spice I couldn't quite place
T- More tangy with a more prevelant alcohol taste, rounded malt flavor with a kick and not near as sweet as the BT version.
M- Still fairly thick if not for the taste would go down more quickly
O- A good beer but I guess I'm just not a fan of Pappy Van Winkle because I enjoyed the Barely Wine Barley Wine almost as much without the barrel aging as this version. Still love their innovation and am glad they made different variaties.
