Historically close to the Lichtenhainer style, the flavor of this Gose accentuates lactobacillus tartness with a subtle smokiness from the 6 hr smoke on the 300 lbs. of local Agritopia grown apples.

A: Hazy gold with small head that fades very fast and no lacing.
N: Apples, some char/smoke, and wheat tones.
T: Very nice, slight sour hit with a little smoke off the apples and some salt.
M: Light
O: Outstanding beer, very easy to drink and super refreshing. Another Gem from AZ Wild.

these guys just keep doing it. you have to like the earthy and the weird, but if you do, this one is a special treat. the smoke in here is strong, its autumnal, campfire-esque, woody and rich, all things that gose, in its finest form, is not. its a cool idea to put two divergent vibes together, and they have done it brilliantly. there is enough sturdy wheat structure to this to support the both the piquant sourness from the lacto and the density of the smoke element, and the salt fits in nicely too. i think the apple is the thing that bridges the gap though, the skins are tart, the flesh is sweet, and it has both green and red apple characteristics, really natural fruit too, and almost like the fruit itself, not the malt, was the smoked part, although im not sure how they made this one in actuality. smoke has some nice bitterness in with it, not acrid at all, but grounding for sure, and its smooth in the feel for a sour beer, all just so interesting, flavors and textures together. this is very interesting stuff, sort of primitive and rustic, reminds me of something the dudes at scratch would make, which is a real high compliment!

Tastes like a lichtenhaier style with nice smokiness. Really smells like braised pork and a smoker. Sugary apples and a slight sourness complements. All comes together real nicely.

Pours a slightly cloudy yellow, with a quickly dissipating white head. Instant aroma of smoked wood and faint acidity. Flavor is intense, but also subdued compared to a lot of other smoked beers I have had. Delicious tartness, and a mild sweet apple presence. Great for someone starting to get into either Rauchbiers or Gose. Cheers!
