Thin clean body that could easily be mistaken for coca cola. Dark brown, but thin and the edges reveal that. Massive billowy head that's soft in appearance and lingers leaving lovely lacing along the glass.
Nose is primarily sweet dark roasty malts.
Flavour has great depth and nuance and offers a tantalizing blend of the same. This is an absolute showcase of the dark malts: rich and flavourful especially considering in a smaller package. Green chocolate and coffee and toasted rye bread. Almost caramel/toffee/chocolate character but it's not quite in that vein. A little more grain and a little more bitter. SPeaking of: while the grains are the showcase here (and wonderfully so), the finish sneaks up on you with a bittering hop swell that grows to be fairly potent by the time the aftertaste finishes. Earthy and pithy with an almost floral/fruity creamy swirl. Many other words ending in 'y.'
Lighter body as befitting the style(?) with that lingering bitter hopped up finish. Heavier carbonation helps the transition and it's easy to tuck into.
This is the last of the beers I bought when I was in Phoenix visiting family, and the second from AZ Wilderness I've tried. Both of their brews I've had have been impressively well crafted, and I will certainly keep an eye out for anything of theirs I see in the future.

Can from The Wandering Tortoise.
A very dark brown with a dense light brown head with great retention and lacing this looks solid. The nose is wonderfully grainy with a blend of toast, dark caramel, pumpernickel bread, rich and deep with additional cocoa and coffee notes. A mild hop character is present as well. The palate opens with flavors of toasted grain, with mild cocoa and bitter dark coffee also present. A wonderful bready and caramel like character, almost toffee like, is present. Drying, grainy on the finish with a lingering toast and mild bitterness, this beer is light in body and softly carbonated. The lower carbonation further reduces the perception of acidity and allows the focus to be on the grain. Excellent stuff.
