500ml bottle at home with Lisa. Around 14 months old to let the heat from 18% subside.

Nose is strange with mostly fusel alcohol (though not straight heat/booze) but backing cocoa powder and cheap whisky. Not good.

Flavor is better but still not that good. Hints at the fudge you want but too thin. OK feel, but pretty thin for being that big - must be a lot of simple sugar added. Need to back off that and focus on building the body.

Pretty disappointing overall.

 

The beer pours very little head that dissipates very quickly and leaves some around the inside of the glass a creamy brown head. The beer itself is a dark chocolate black with thin and oily texture.

The smell is pretty good. It consists of mainly a sweet cocoa note and a bit of whiskey too.

The taste is fantastic. It has a good sweet chocolate and powdered cocoa note that mix very well with each other. The rye whiskey certainly comes out in an interesting orange like note with a bit of rye spiceness to it. The taste also has a alcohol note to it in the finish.

The feel is good. It has a heavy body but a thin texture to it and is extremely easy drinking with a slight alcohol burn in the finish. There is very little carbonation to this beer.

Overall, this is definitely a fantastic beer to have had and worth getting a hold of if possible. It's absolutely delicious and indulgent.
