Amazing dessert beer.
No date stamp. Poured into a mini-snifter/mead glass.
A: Black with 1/2-finger light beige frothy head which leaves a persistent rim and leaves a few dots of lacing.
S: Raspberry creme candy in the foil wrapper — vanilla, raspberry, and light caramel with milk chocolate and some plum and cherry cordial aromas as well.
T: Stunning flavor with no extract chemical aftertaste — just tastes like a slightly sweet chocolate bomb of a stout with real fruit and vanilla. Early palate with milk chocolate and light caramel followed mid-palate with sweet raspberry and cherry cordial flavors. Finish is fruity with more cocoa and dark chocolate flavors and medium bitterness. No appreciable roast in the aroma or flavor. An impressively constructed beer.
M: Medium body with fairly active carbonation and full finish. Lush without being syrupy.
O: Needs to stay in Crooked Run Central’s lineup permanently — expertly treads the line between fruity sweet and chocolate without getting bitter or sharp and keeps the drinkability up with a higher than average carbonation for the style. Exceptional dessert stout and my best beer of 2020 to this point.
