From a bottle. Pours a dark red- brown with a small short lived cap of white foam. Smells of caramel, dark fruit, and tart. The taste is caramel, brown sugar/molassas, some dark fruit, and a little funk. Strangely creamy in texture with a full body. Fairly low in carbonation. Overall a decent american made barleywine.

Had on tap at Frisco Taphouse in Gambrills, MD. For a 16% beer, this is impressively smooth. Not overly boozy at all. Nice vanilla and caramel malt notes, light citrus hoppiness. Fairly sweet but quite tasty overall.

Pours a deep dark brown, not much in the form of head retention. This is a silky alcohol heavy boy for sure.
Nose is toasted oak, coconut, almond, candied pecan, walnuts, vanilla, and a hint of true bourbon.
It’s got a smooth silky mouthfeel with ample complexity. Chocolate, bourbon, maple syrup, and vanilla. There is something else there that doesn't taste as integrated. Maybe it's oak? Maybe it's something else. It just feels like it doesn't belong.
This is a good rich, indulgent barleywine, but it's not perfect.
