Can purchased at brewery (FB release post 1/19):
It's billed as a hazy beer, and it's an opaque, cloudy one. It's in that peach pulp realm with bruises in the middle of the glass, where the light has more trouble penetrating. Head is pretty typical, and lacing is solid-plus, but I still think these cloudy beers are unappealing visually.
Initial attempts to get an aroma didn't bring much - a very generic mix of tropical and stone fruit. First sip on a still cold beer was more expressive than the aromas. A bit sweet with a mix of peach, coconut, and pineapple. So it does have a bit of a fruit smoothy aspect to the opening, but a mix of oat and herbal grassy bitterness bring it back a bit.
There is a little burn in the feel - one that will likely be familiar to people who get a "hop/yeast" burn in hazy IPAs. It's also medium heavy in weight, making for a pretty big beer feel, though it's not near being overpowering. (Edit: the “burn” isn’t as pronounced on a subsequent can)
As it warms, the nose opens up, exhibiting some of that "burn" that was noted in the taste. I get a little more peaches and herb under that, with the coconut and pineapple not matching my thoughts on the taste.
I think this is a pretty solid double NEIPA, though it runs a little sweet and could have a more inviting feel.
