2022 500 ml bottle recommended by craft shop guy…$20. Poured cool to a Glencairn glass. Dark mahogany brown body with a dark mocha one-finger head. Aroma is a dark fresh maple syrup with a hint of caramelized sugar. Flavor is a burst of bourbon and barrel, mellowed by a subtle sweet maple middle, then a finish of slightly roasty malts. Maybe a hint of baker’s chocolate on the back if you smack your tongue looking for it. No chalky RIS malt vibe. 16% ABV hides too well. Not much of a burn to help back off huge gulps. After about 2 Glencairns in, you’ll feel it. I didn’t go in with any expectations. It’s good, not great. Definitely one to try. I’d liken it to a mellower sibling of 2018 CBS.
