Chocolate Cream Cookie Stout

Dark brown in color with some light seeping through to the naked eye. I see a lot of fine sediment suspended within the body. There’s a fingernail of brown around the rim and covering a quarter of the top. The aroma is of chocolate and a touch of vanilla. I’m tasting dark chocolate along the lines of a Hostess donut. It starts dark and finishes wee. The mouth is somewhat dense.

Very light on head/lacing. Not overly sweet. Definitely reminds me of cookies and cream! A nice and light offering!

 

12oz bottle. Poured out an opaque, jet-black color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left minimal lacing on the glass. It smelled of chocolate, sweet cream, toffee and caramel. Sweet chocolate taste with cream, light vanilla notes and a mild bitterness.

Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark mahogany brown with little light transmission in the glass and a half finger light khaki head that dissipates to patches with light lacing. Aroma of dark toasted and biscuit malt, chocolate and vanilla. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a touch of char, moderate dark chocolate, light lactose and vanilla; flavor thins out in the finish, but leaves a pleasant chocolate cookie aftertaste. Medium bodied with light creaminess and sharp carbonation. A mild stout, bordering on porter territory. The aroma is reminiscent of that cookie that shows up all the time in crossword puzzles, but the flavor is much milder. Somewhat light malt and chocolate at first, thinning out to modest chocolate and dark malt, but leaving a memory of cookies after the taste. Satisfactory, but not a memorable cookie stout.
