this has evolved to become one of the better everyday beers in here. its fuller bodied as they go, and has a whole bunch of rye in it, maybe even something like 30%. its just a simple pale rye malt, but with the medium crystal in here its got the best of both worlds, the gritty dusty spicy dry rye, and the sweeter, richer, round feeling crystal barley malt. the hops to me taste northwestern, but arent real heavily dosed, light even for a pale ale, but with some pleasing bitterness and a mellow flavor profile thats real compatible with the rye. i like the body, and the slightly lower carbonation, it lets you know you are drinking a rye beer, even independently of the taste. thats pretty cool. still not to heavy to drink a bunch of, although i slow down because i think the flavor opens up even more when its a little warmer. the beer has really improved in here over the years, and i was impressed with almost all the flavors during a recent visit. good to see them evolving away from just strictly english stuff. this rye beer is very solid.
