agreeing with others here that this is on the maltier side for the style, and really not quite indicative of a true kolsch, lacking the light and bright and refreshing and crushable aspects, but its not a bad beer, just maybe better as a blonde ale or something. maybe some german elements in the grain, but the traditional aspects stop about there. the yeast to me is flavorless, the water profile is off, and even though the beer isnt at all bad, it comes across as a little amateurish and not all the way understanding of the style in its true form. still, its drinkable enough and the bigger body isnt bad this time of year. it ends up a little sweet and cereal forward though, not as dry as it should be, and nowhere near as well carbonated. if you are looking for just a beer, this probably covers you, but if you are seeking a true american craft kolsch, i am afraid i have to advise you to keep looking. the beer was all pretty decent in here, but their less adventurous recipes such as this one were definitely their weaker offerings...

On tap at the Rochester Taproom in Rochester, NY.
One of the maltier kolsches I've have, tasty, but not sure if it fits to style. It tasted a bit more like a maibock or something along those lines.
Pours a clear medium amber color, with a quarter inch head, and a little bit of lacing down the glass.
Smells malty, with caramel and toasted bread, plus some grassy hops.
The taste is the same. Sweet malt honey-like flavors, some toasty bread, and yeasty flavors. There is some slightly grassy hoppiness.
Medium bodied, crisp but sweet mouthfeel, medium carbonation, pretty drinkable.
An interesting take on a kolsch, don't know how traditional it is, but I liked it anyway.
