The oxymoron of the style name could not fit better to Rudeen's taste. His deep mahogany black colour is not only for the looks but also hides a generous amount of chocolaty caramel roastiness. Hops gives it a huge fruity and resiny aroma and taste. It is creamy, refreshing and bitter at the same time. We advise you to close your eyes, smell and then taste this bold beer which marries stout, porter and a big IPA. A perfect balance between hops, mellow roastiness from the malt, creaminess and drinkability is something that we are especially proud of. Be careful ! He bites!

Copenhagen 4/11 2018. 33 cl bottle from Vinbørsen, Kbh Ø. What looks like a Crazy-ass Tree-folk on the label (might be Half-Crab).
Pours hazy, opaque, dark brown with big off-white head. Settles as 1 cm thick lump of foam clinging to the sides of the glass. Massive lacing.
Aroma is sweet roasted malts meeting tart berries. Caramel, roastiness is overcome by slightly stronger odor of citrus, slightly unripe gooseberries and lemon.
Medium strong carbonation. Slightly thick, prickly and lively texture.
Flavor is medium sweet followed by stronger bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter and lingers for a while. Finish is semi-dry.
Fine Black IPA on the bitter side.

A – Pours a deep dark Mahogany colour with a large Beige head that retains well and laces.
S – Rich chocolate malt.
T – Smooth flavours of malt, chocolate, molasses with hoppy undertones
M – Medium body and carbonation
O – I’m not a massive fan of this style but I do appreciate that this is very good example of the style.

Pours an opaque, pitch-black coloration with a large, fluffy, lasting head. Smells of roasted, caramel malt and resinous, citrus hops, with notes of chocolate, grapefruit and pine. Taste follows the nose, with an excellent balance of quite roasted, slightly caramelly malt and bitter, resinous, citrus hops, with notes of chocolate, grapefruit and pine. Finishes with a medium/strong bitterness and some roasted malt, grapefruit and pine lingering in the aftertaste. Smooth, full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.
I love a good Black IPA and this certainly fits the bill with its excellent balance of roasted malt and bitter, resinous hops, as well as chocolate and citrus accents, while finishing with a great bitterness. It's a real shame that Black IPAs have become such a rare style to find, so I'm always extremely happy to come across a well-made example of the style such as this. Very enjoyable, with a great aroma, balance of flavours and mouthfeel, a real treat.

From Boxbeers. In Teku glass. Playing Cafe 0. 2 months before bbf date and hoppy notes still very noticeable, providing it refreshing qualities and nice taste. Roastyness hidden. Moreish

Fantastic and fine beige foam of 3 fingers that lasts.
Roasted and fruity
fruity hop flavor, roasted notes, moderately bitter (hops and roast)
Smooth, good carbonation, refreshing on a November day
More than decent black IPA that could be a bit more expressed on the hopside. However, it is quite harmonic.

Brown color with beige head. Intense hoppy aroma with dankness but also fruity notes. Taste starts really hoppy, makes me think of Simcoe and Centennial. Gets roasty and bitter in the finish. Really nice black IPA, right up my alley.
