Slightly hazy yellow in appearance, with a very tall head with good retention. Smells more like a Belgian ale than an American one - kneaded dough, spices, grass, some citrus. The taste is bland, diluted, feint herbal and floral notes with some malty sweetness underneath. The body is light and a bit watery, but it has a certain freshness that will make this beer a decent thirst quencher.

Brief impressions from a 33cl brown glass bottle purchased at Stockmann in Tallinn, Estonia:

Reviewed live as an American pale ale. Best before: 13.12.2015. 5.8% ABV.

A: Head occupies ~80% of the glass. Off-white colour. Soft-looking. Retention is good - ~8+ minutes.

Body colour is a clear yellow. Clean, with no visible yeast.

Sm: Pale malts. Pilsner malts. Fragrant fresh floral hops. Some grassiness. Faint fruit - mango, tangerine, mandarin orange.

Fresh and appealing, with the mandarin orange winning out over the other notes.

Aromatic intensity is above average.

T: Follows the aroma, with a simple presentation of flavour. Somewhat shallow, if not reticent. The simple pale malt build works well enough with the fruity and floral hops, but there's just not much depth or intricacy of flavour here.

Mf: Smooth, wet, medium-bodied, overcarbonated. Decent execution, but not particularly notable.

O: Highly drinkable, but not a world-class pale ale on account of its relative simplicity and shallowness. I look forward to trying more beers from this brewery, and this has some nice elements - but it can't compete with paragons of the style.
