Bottle: Poured a clear amber color ale with a large foamy head with OK retention and some lacing. Aroma of light dry caramel malt with some fruity ester. Taste is a mix of residuals sugar with light caramelized malt and some fruity ester. Body is about average with good carbonation. Not bad but doesn’t really stand out.

More amber ale than not. Very little of anything Belgian about this one. Short and short-lived head, gone straight away, looks like tea. Lots of malt and just a touch of spice on the nose. Malt, plus a sweet and sour thing going flavourwise. Only a wee hint of yeast. Noticeable bite from carbonation, bittersweet finish. High alcohol delivers some noticeable warmth. Overall, unremarkable

500 mL bottle picked up at the brewery last month; served at cellar temperature. 'Belgian Amber Ale' isn't a style on this site, so I shoehorned this into the next-closest category.
Pours a clear, deep-hued ruby red-amber colour, capped off with a full inch of creamy, meringue-like, off white-coloured head. It lasts for the next five minutes or so, eroding gradually until only a wide, foamy collar and bubbly cap remain. Good curtain of lacing too; so far the "beauty" moniker is looking pretty apt. The aroma is fairly subdued, comprised by notes of caramelized sugar and biscuity, doughy malt sweetness, overlapped with a light clove spiciness. Yeasty and a tad fruity; medjool dates come to mind.
The taste follows the nose - biscuity, doughy/bready malts and light caramelized sugar sweetness start things off, with fruity notes of date and plum coming through by mid-sip. Mild yeastiness and clove spice on the back end with some earthy bitterness; it finishes with lingering caramelized sugar sweetness and earth, which fade into an off-dry aftertaste. Medium in body, with rather low carbonation levels that weakly agitate the palate. It feels soft, smooth and slick in the mouth, and despite the modestly sturdy abv, it chugs like a champ.
Final Grade: 3.63, a B grade. Beauty and the Belgian is an approachable, inoffensive Belgian-esque ale that I am enjoying, but it still plays things a bit too safe for my liking. To its credit, this beer's subtle array of flavours are harmonized very well - and even though the flavour profile isn't particularly interesting, intense or unique, there are not exactly any serious problems here for me to complain about, either. Serviceable and worth a shot, though I think I prefer their flagship saison over this one.

Seemed like the colour came from Crystal malt and no candi sugar. No real yeast character. Overly sweet, no easters or phenolics that I could pick up. Fell short for me.

Deep amber hue, well filtered and only a little carbonation, this brew is topped with a finger of off white head.
Smells of caramel, dog hair, green olives, and slightly fruity.
Tastes of Belgian yeasts, bubblegum, coriander, hard water and bready malt.
Light body, with little carbonation.
Got this in Stratford, I am drinking it at Muskoka, Dec 8th, 2017. Decent on the tongue, a little awkward on the nose, overall is a fair brew. I wouldn't classify it as is, but it reminds me of De Koninck's amber in some ways.

Somewhat of a week attempt of a Belgian style but you could do worse. It's refreshing, has a nice after taste but it is watery and lacks substance. Still, give it a try.

A nice template for a domestic belgian. Aroma pleasant although a bit subdued. Taste is focused towards the yeast, on the sweet and fruity side, emphatic malty sweetnees. Hop bitterness just restraining the sweetness enough to not be one sided. Mellow, aftertaste, washes down smooth without astringency or anything odd. Although not pushing any boundaries the experience was wholly enjoyable. Easily drinkable, good; lacking a hint of bolder flavour to be great.

500 ml bottle served fairly cold into a tulip glass. purchased from the LCBO for around $4 CDN. Bottled May 16, 2016. Nice to see Block 3 getting a little more fanfare at the LCBO.
Appearance - Dark copper in color, middling carbonation. A big off-white head is poured, initially measure over a finger and a half but receded quickly. Minimal lacing. Some red and purple hues in direct light.
Smell - Plenty of grain, some sour yeasty funk a hint of bananas, and more grape aromatics than expected.
Taste - Some spiciness but more bitter and just a steady pulsating bitterness. Some graininess but taste seems a little thin. Very little sweetness which is one of those understated things that makes many Belgians so good. Seems a little watery to me. Improves as it warms.
Mouthfeel - Smooth with a lighter than expected body, reasonably dry finish, and carbonation levels that are below average. Lacks the presence of many in the style.
Overall - Beauty and the Belgian starts off looking pretty good, but the cohesiveness of the aromas and flavors isn't quite there and more important the body just seems a little flat and devoid of a subtle sweetness that really helps brings a Belgian ale together. Disappointing but some potential and a few tweaks could make this recipe a real winner.
