Thanks to Dash and Sara for this lovely and interesting brew. 500 ml bottle served cold-ish into a chalice. Review from notes.
Appearance - A semi hazy, rich golden beer is poured and has half a finger of loose white head on top. Not much lacing although the carbonation looks pretty.
Smell - Sour and tart. Some wood and grapes and balsamic notes. Floral aspect and subtle sweet fruity underbelly.
Taste - Quite tart, lots of balsamic, a touch of wood and some slightly funky mushroom like flavoring. Weirdly rich and long lasting flavor on the tongue. In that respect kind of like some of the good Flanders Ales, although this definitely is a Flanders Red. Very, very interesting.
Mouthfeel - Medium-light bodied, uniquely creamy with appropriate carbonation. Really good stuff.
Overall - One of the biggest surprises of the year for me, delicious stuff and the mushroom and creamy aspects of this brew are unlike any I've every tasted. Definitely worth a try if you can get to the brewery.
