Saint of Circumstance is our go-to, easy drinking, any occasion brew. We started by creating this tasty blonde ale using wheat for its lemony flavour and added Citra, Centennial and Amarillo hops. We took it to a whole new level by adding the zest of seasonal citrus. The result, a remarkably refreshing and balanced citrus blonde ale.

Vancouver 27/8 2018. 47,3 cl can from First Avenue Liquor Store, Renfrew. Drawing of a slightly confused astronaut trying to grass cryptic graphs.
Pours slightly hazy pale yellow with all kinds of sediments Racing around. Small white head. Settles as patchy, thin, transparent layer of foam. Clinging to the side of the glass.
Aroma is intense and fruity. Unripe berries and tart citrus. Peach, sweet melon providing moderate sweetness.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery texture.
Flavor has very light sweetness. Followed by strong sour bitterness. Aftertaste is sour and bitter. Finish is dry.
A dry and sour citrus bath. A bit one-dimensional and on the verge of overdoing it. But in the end this is a refreshing summer beer - if not for all tastes.

Look: Pours pale yellow, clear, with a 1 1/2 finger white head. Head disapates slowly over 5 minutes leaving slight head across the top of the glass.
Smell: Citrus, melons, cantaloupe, bubblegum.
Taste: Very light and watery on the front end, earthy and musky in the middle with a lemony sour bitterness at the back end.
Feel: Rounded and mouth filling, but with a soapiness to it that didn't thrill me.

Pours a hazy golden colour with a slightly greenish hue, light foam on top that quickly reduces. Quite a strong taste off this one, the sour notes hit immediately and this is followed by a healthy dose of hops. Notes of lemon zest, orange peel and grapefruit. This beer has a light body and this lends to its smooth and easy drinking appeal. No complaints here.

Overall I quite liked this beer. It pours out with a colour and clarity that does not suggest anything exciting, and exhibits a mild citrous beer smell. However, the taste is nicely balance with a good citrous note, not too strong, and a nice level of hops that will not scare off those that are not into the higher IBU beers. One thing I did appreciate is the lower alchohol content, at 4.7%. Some of these citrous hop beers are getting up to as much as 6.8%, which makes me reconsider having a can before working with tools or driving. This one is a bit lighter both in flavour and hops, so more of a beer that you can have and do something after.

Saint of Circumstance has a medium, off-white head, a hazy, sediment-filled yellow-gold appearance, fierce bubbles, and moderate lacing. Aroma is of citrus zest and white wheat. Mouthfeel is high medium, and Saint of Circumstance finishes medium wet/dry.
