473ml can poured into tulip 17/10/16
A hazy nearing murky pale yellow, lots of bubbles but they only manage a finger of foam that quickly falls to a thick film leaving a few random patches
S lots of peppery yeast, there's some fruit but I'd never guess papaya, you get the wheaty notes, maybe some faint catty notes in the background?
T mimics the nose, yeast takes center stage, fruity notes are there, spicy as can be
M has some weight upon entry but a little explosive but not far off for a saison, slick on the palate, spicy finish
O decent fruited saison but the fruits as little faint but the yeast carries things along
Good but not great, not exactly a fruit beer or anywhere near these guys best offerings but enjoyable and I'd flip a coin on buying another.

473ml can - I gotta say, when I first glanced at this one, I thought that the name was Pa Pa Ya Saison.
This beer pours a slightly hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with three fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and chunky dirty white head, which leaves exactly one instance of a sudsy map of the state of Michigan in terms of lace around the glass as things slowly sink away.
It smells of musty yeast, gritty wheat malt, a lesser pale graininess, earthy tropical fruit esters - one of which (or more, I can't say) could indeed be papaya - a twinge of muddled ground pepper, subtle citrus notes, and a bit of leafy, floral, and wet hay-like hop bitterness. The taste is bready and doughy mixed pale/wheat malt, overripe papaya, bruised banana, orange and red grapefruit citrus, a much more sedate yeastiness, still understated peppercorn spice, and a growing leafy, piney, and grassy green hoppiness.
The bubbles are fairly low-key in their mostly just workaday frothiness, the body a decent middleweight, and generally smooth, just a bit of yeastiness putting a scratch in the new paint job, as such. It finishes off-dry, the blended tropical fruitiness enveloping the lingering verdant hop bitters.
Overall, it takes this one some time to warm up (flavour-wise), but it does, and turns out to be a genuinely well-made fruit Saison, i.e. the papaya doesn't overpower the base beer's qualities, yet is still a star in its own right. Very summery, so I suppose it's good that September continues to be relatively balmy around here right now, eh?

Not really sure where the papaya flavour comes into play. If you didn't know it was there, then you wouldn't know it was there. But this is still a great tasting pint for anyone with a decent palate. Cheers!

Purchased at the brewery for $3.45 473ml can. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass
A- Opens well and pours a 1" high white head that lasts for 5mins before film out. Light gold colour and unfiltered
S- Nice airy slightly sour scent. Touch grassy. Where is the papaya by the way? Definitely not here
T- Where is the papaya? Not here at all. Missing a key ingredient here guys! Otherwise very bland and uninspired.
M- Watery and heavily carbonated. Not a good combination. Bland to the n'th degree
O- Not for me. They forgot a key ingredient..... papaya! If it's in the name it should be there
Food Pairing
This bland brew went well with....... Pretzels. When you need something salty to get this one down pretzels will work
Enjoy

Nice pale cloudy gold with a frothy finger of oily looking head. Looks the part with that full figured colour.
Nose is a fruit bowl from the guyanas full of nectarous pineapple nectarines and the nameplate papaya. The familiar yeast aroma of a saison is pleasant with a bit of dough. Really an inviting nose for the summer.
This baby is full body fruit of the tropical variety with a slight citrus rind hops profile that leads into a well balanced barnyard yeast. Good body and full flavoured with great balance and a nice yeast profile, what's not to love? Only minor quibble would be noticeable bitterness from the hops but since they give us these wonderful fruit flavours can we be too worried? I'll by this by the 6 pack from now on!
