I've really enjoyed recent IPAs & IPA collaborations from CA so had to purchase a 4 pack of this & give it a try. Expectations were not high based on the name - Raspberry Milkshake IPA with Habanero Peppers??? I've had one lager made with Habanero peppers & it was a mouth-on-fire gimmick beer which tasted like a Coors light with suicide sauce thrown in. I'm also not a big fan of the fruit beer trend, or fruity sour beer craze, but this says IPA on the can so let's give it a shot.
Pours pink from the can - strange looking & settles as a completely opaque deep pink/purple with a small light pink head which faded rather quickly down to nothing. Others & a pic from the brewery show more of a substantial head - maybe I got a bad can? Aroma has some raspberry, but nothing all that strong coming from this.
Taste is ... nice! Smooth sweet & slightly tart raspberry with enough hop character to think they may have used some Simcoe/Mosaic - there's a bit of that IPA #4 / Hazy citrus flavour in there although the can does not mention hops. The peppers are just barely there which is good but you can sense them (are they making my eyes water slightly?) and just a hint of heat builds up after having several sips. I can understand the taste being called a touch watery but I want to forgive this as it's pretty full & carries a lot of flavour.

473 ml can served cold into a goblet. A brewery purchase $19.95 CDN for a 4 pack or $5 per beer. canned January 4, 2018
Appearance - Pours a dark murky pink colored beer with incredible haze. A finger and change of frothy and fluffy light pink head rests on top a stays for a good little while.
Smell - Certainly some raspberries, tart and sweet with some peppery quality if you search deep enough. Some leafy hops mixed in as well. Not a huge nose.
Taste - Somewhat fruity with raspberries mostly present, some bitterness (more so on the current glass than the one I enjoyed last night). Leafy hops and some tartness from the berries. A little watery on the whole and there's only a trace of the peppers.
Mouthfeel - Quite smooth and creamy, carbonation is middling and body is quite full. The peppers leave some heat in the back of the mouth and throat after a few sips. Alcohol is invisible.
Overall - This marks the second or third "milkshake" IPA I've had and like the others, I don't know what it is, but it doesn't quite do it for me. Certainly well made, reasonably tasty and with the addition of hot peppers a little different, but the milkshake IPA's have been too close to watered down fruit juice for my tastes. I suppose something more tropical like a Pineapple milkshake IPA might be more up my alley. $5 a can is a little steep for my tastebuds, so this probably won't be a repeat purchase, however I'm sure there are some out there who will love this stuff.

Aroma- raspberry fruity aroma with an indistinguishably identifiable hop presence.
Appearance - Hazy purple/red colour, opaque. Very low white head, no retention, no lacing
Mouthfeel- thin-medium body with moderate carbonation. Slight slickness in mouthfeel
Taste- Bitter raspberry with dry tart finish. lacking habinero pepper sensation or flavour
Overall- Tart, dry for a milkshake. great mouthfeel. Flavour of tart fruit and bitterness is out of balance.
