Swapping stories and expanding on collective knowledge is one of our favourite parts of collaborating with other breweries. To honour that oh-so-important aspect of the brewing experience, we teamed up with our pals at Dancing Gnome in Pittsburgh to create a unique take on a classic lager. Trading Tales is dry hopped with Strata and Citra hops, giving it notes of citrus, tropical passion fruit, and 'dank', with the crisp clean finish you expect from a lager.

16oz can, i love the art

The hop flavor and scent in this is top-tier. Light, sweet malt, kiss of alcohol, oak, tropical fruit, lemon Pledge.

Great hoppy lager with few off-flavors

I was able to leave work early yesterday due to a family emergency & now, all is well & I still have a good bit of time before I have to go back into work. As such, it seems like a good CANportunity to indulge in The CANQuest (tm) & drink, review & rate some CANned beers!

From the CAN: "Collab Brew [-] Collective Arts Art * Brewing [&] Dancing Gnome"; "Trading Tales Strata & Citra Dry Hopped Lager"; "Art: Docvek London, UK".

This had to be one of the more striking labels that I had seen in a long time + it was a Lager so I pulled out one of my many tall Pilsner glasses from Ollie's Discount Warehouse for the ocCANsion. I Crack!ed open the vent & performed a slow, gentle, steady C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass. It foamed mightily & brilliantly to form two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, bone-white head with excellent retention. Color struck me as being an oh-so-slightly-hazy Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7), but when The Gelt Gang of Midas, Mammon & Croesus appeared for a taste, I revised my thinking since they only like 24-carat clarity. Nose was heavy with a grapefruit citrusiness along with a light tropical fruitiness (guava?). Mmm. Mouthfeel was thin-to-medium, on the big side for a Lager. The taste gave the lie to its current designation as a "Lager - AmeriCAN", whose style description includes the verbiage "... has little in the way of hop and malt character." This was hop-driven & should be classified as a "Lager - India Pale" since it even included the slight haze that I mentioned! 8=O The taste was pleasantly bitter with a definite grapefruit citrusiness as well as a light, spritzy tropical fruitiness, backed with a light, bready maltiness that knew better than to get in the way of the shining hops. This was a CANtastic example of an IPL & one that made me wish for others in this style. Finish was pleasantly dry, highly refreshing & a real gem of a beer. YMMV.

A collaboration brew with Dancing Gnome brewery in Pittsburgh, PA.

Appearance - Pours a straw gold with four fingers of frothy white head.

Smell - citrus, earthy, floral, leafy, and hint of piney hops, citrus and lemon peel, hint of pine resin, bready malts, hint of pineapple, peach, and mango, and earthy lager yeast.

Taste - bold citrus, earthy, floral, leafy, and hint of piney hops up front. The citrus and lemon peel, hint of pine resin, pineapple, peach, and mango follow suit. The bready malts and earthy lager yeast round out the brew.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes crisp and smooth with the hops and fruits lingering.

Overall - A bold and flavour lager that boasts a pleasant hop profile thanks to the dry-hopping. This one is definitely quite sessionable.
