It's back!! We are bringing back the overwhelming fan-favourite IPA #5 for the latest instalment in our IPA Series. This DIPA is made with massive amounts of Simcoe and Citra hops, which are bursting with notes of bright grapefruit citrus, juicy tropical mango and passionfruit, with pleasantly dank, piney undertones.

The pour from a pint can into a clear Imperial pint glass brought forth a liquid orange-amber in color. There is a modest, but enduring slightly tinted head. The aroma is wonderful, sort of citrusy, maybe a little resinous and definitely hoppy. The taste is richly hopped and well balanced. A beautiful tight film of glass lacing has been left to admire. The hoppiness is slighy dank and sticky upfront, then at the finish turns mildly bitter and dry. Mango is more reminiscent a taste than any citrus fruit, other than the twinge of bitterness. There's absolutely no evidence to the tongue that this pours an ABV at 8.2%. Each pause leaves you looking for more. Outstanding!

At two and a half months, this is not a fresh sample, but it is what it is - blame my vendor, the distributor, or the brewer, or blame me for letting the store pick my brews (I don't go in stores right now). Of the last batch, only one IPA was really fresh.
So how does it hold up? Just OK. This double IPA is pretty New Englandy, cloudy and pale yellow. The smell, New England. The taste is bitter and just a tad too dry - stale tasting.
Not recommended. It may have been better when very fresh, but I really had no interest in this brew. I'm not happy that my vendor sold me this.

Can dated 12/14/20 into pint glass. Pours a hazy gold (SRM 4 or 5) with a resilient off-white head. Initial impression is juicy grapefruit, peach, mango, and pine. Mouthfeel is medium but not quite sticky; creamy-smooth. Alcohol is well hidden. Finish is smooth and citrus-y, with a lingering dankness. Overall, an excellent DIPA - I would revisit in a heartbeat.

Pours a milky slightly anemic hazy yellow, pretending to be golden, colour with a finger + of foamy white head.
Amazing aroma - pungent dank with grapefruit, mango, slightly sweaty, tropical.
Sweet citrus and tropical fruit on the palate, mango, papaya, again a note of dankness and resinous hops, piney and a smack of grapefruit peel bitterness balancing the malty sweetness.
Medium mouthfeel with decent carbonation - sweet yet with a sticky hop bitterness that lingers on the palate. This has an aggressive hop note that really appeals to me.
