500 ml bottle from the brewery. Served cold into a pint glass.
Appearance - Semi hazy muddled golden brew with a small finger of white head.
Smell- Huge cantaloupe aromas with some orange, melon and lemon in the background. Lots of malt there too.
Taste - Zesty and aggressively bitter. Cantaloupe overwhelms the palate with a spicy zestiness that is offputting, it's sort of a horseradish, hot mustard feel with lemon juice. Strange and unusual, if not unpleasant. Big bready backbone and some booziness too. Sharpness dies down as it warms.
Mouthfeel - Zesty astringency carries over to the feel on what is otherwise a big full bodied brew, with middling carbonation and a semi-dry finish.
Overall - Unique cantaloupe dominated brew with intense bitterness, a strange spicy or zesty quality that is hard to place, Rolling Thunder is nonetheless a quality DIPA that pushes some boundaries.

A pale yellow pour with a very aggressive, lasting head, that is a a bit too much. The nose is malty citrus. Nothing special. A clear taste of nothing in particular, with a muted dank finish. No fruit jumps to the forefront, maybe cantaloupe.
All in all there is not much to write here, as this beer is rather mundane. Not bad at all, just nothing stands out.

Pours hazy straw with a gigantic, rocky head that lasts the entire glass. Intense apricot and citrus aromas in the nose. Juicy tangerine, apricot, grapefruit, cantaloupe hop flavors dominate the taste. Light biscuity malts in the back. The mouthfeel is full bodied with medium carbonation and lots of hop cotton mouth. High bitterness in the super long, dank finish.
Even hoppier and more bitter than the most Collective Arts IPAs. Complex and quaffable. This stuff is world class.
